How to enjoy Tokyo national museum

 

I would like to introduce about Tokyo national museum at Ueno Tokyo for Visitors.

I visit there 3-4 times a year, because special exhibitions change every 3-4 months.

Access

I recommend to go by train.

(JR Line) 10 minutes from Ueno or Uguisudani station

 

Admissions

Adults: 620yen

Special exhibition:1000-1600yen

If you pay special exhibition money, you can visit every building.

Most of the special exhibitions are held at Heiseikan special exhibition galleries.

 

 

Attention

Some special exhibition is very popular and crowded, for example Masterpieces of Kosan-ji Temple: the complete scrolls of Choju Giga, Frolicking Animals in 2015.

I visited there weekends, and queue line up outside 3hours.

I go to special exhibition, every time I check public twitter and get information.

Public twitter writes in Japanese.

 

Hours

Monday and year-end holidays (December 26, 2017 – January 1, 2018) is closed.

Open 9-17:00

Open until 21:00 on Fridays, Saturdays from April 2017.

 

Recommend

Japanese gallery is empty and it’s worth visiting there.

You can see Japanese historical works.

 

Summary

I could see Japanese national-treasure class painting, building and treasures from overseas there.

If you like museum, you can stay a whole day. If you don’t have time, I recommend to visit Honkan and Heiseikan(special exhibition) and it takes 1-2 hours.

Please enjoy Japanese travel, and if you go to spring time you can see beautiful cheery blossom in Ueno park and museum garden.
